Fountains

I enjoyed another day off  HOT day off!  So we headed over to the Promenade Shops to enjoy the fountains....something I've been meaning to do with the kids since last summer!  I wasn't even sure if they would be running yet, but they definitely were and there were tons of kids there.  We even ran into to some friends there, which made it even more fun!

Avery had a blast!

She liked to put her foot over the water and then take it off to let the water shoot back out.

She also like putting her butt in it!

She tried her hardest to get Gray to go in too....

but he was just as happy hanging out with Mom eating his lunch

and climbing!

Yonanas!

Since they were already dirty from the creek, I figured it was a good day to enjoy a frozen treat.  We are obsessed with our Yonanas maker (thanks Michele for the x-mas gift!). It's an appliance that makes a frozen yogurt-like dessert out of frozen fruit...no need to add any dairy or sugar!  It's so healthy, tastes delicious and the kids (and we) feel like it's a special treat, even though it's literally JUST fruit!  The flavor of the day was banana-mango.

We made them get off the patio because they were dripping so much!  So they marched around the yard (pantless!) before finishing up in the grass.

Afternoon at the Monocacy

We live just up the hill from Monocacy Park and it was the perfect day to walk around, dip our feet in the creek, and watch the ducks.  It also turned into somewhat of a little photo session!

Picking flowers for Mommy

Then the splashing began and it was all downhill after that....

This girl loves the camera

We all had some fun using the camera's timer to get some shots of the three of us...

Too bad Daddy had to actually work on a beautiful, hot Tuesday!

If you look closely, you can see a woman in a wedding dress along with her husband standing IN the creek getting their picture taken.  It was a Tuesday afternoon, so I was pretty sure they didn't just get  married today.  I chatted up the photographer and he told me they were doing a "trash the dress" photography session.  This couple was married three years ago, but wanted to get some photos of them doing things in her wedding dress that they were not willing to do on their actually wedding day.  How fun is that!?!?! They provided great entertainment for our afternoon. Avery couldn't stop watching them!

Color Me Rad

Despite the gloomy, cool morning that it was, Adam, and our friend Ryan, and I got up and ran a 5K called "Color Me Rad" in downtown Bethlehem. You start out wearing a white shirt and throughout the course you get "bombed" with color.  This was the outcome....

Adam developed a yellow "unibrow" from wearing his sunglasses.

After the run, they continued to do color bombings...

Avery enjoyed the leftover "Rad" tattoos that we got.

It was a different kind of Sunday morning for us, but we had a blast!  Next time, I think we will bring the kids along because they probably have just as much fun as we did.

Got A Date

Last weekend was Avery's much anticipated dance recital.  It started with dress rehearsal on Thursday, followed by three nights of recital.  It was exhausting, but very exciting!  Avery had a blast and was not even a bit nervous. I'm pretty sure she loved the "getting ready" part of it as much as the "dancing" part of it.

Striking a pose....

Here she is with her friend, Lilah...

and some more of her classmates.  Aren't they just the cutest?!?! Avery is a bit younger (and noticeably smaller) than her classmates, but she had no problem fitting in with them.

Avery and her class danced to a song called "Got a Date." What our families DIDN'T know was that for the past 6 months or more, we have been keeping a very BIG secret.  Her "date" was with her Daddy and he danced on stage with her!  This involved a lot of scheming to make sure Avery didn't mention anything to our families about it (not easy for a 3 year old to keep this kind of secret!)  Adam had to go to several dance practices, rent a tux, get pictures taken, the whole nine yards! I was a dance mom to TWO dancers!  It is a memory that they will get to share forever and for that, I am very grateful!  It was a great way to spend Mother's Day weekend. I can't get enough of this picture...

Avery very much enjoyed being showered with flowers (and I have really enjoyed having them decorate various rooms in my house this week too) and having celebratory pizza and frozen yogurt!

It would not have been the same without our family there to share it with.  Thanks for all of you that came to the show! For those of you who weren't there, you MUST watch this video that I was able to shoot of their dance at the dress rehearsal!

Our friend, Miss Ashley, put on a fabulous show and we were so happy to be a part of it.  It has been so rewarding to see Avery's confidence soar this year! Who knows what she will do next?
