Boo Bash 2014

It's the (2nd) most wonderful time of the year....
HALLOWEEN!!!

We so look forward to Halloween, especially since Daddy works at the best candy company and they throw the coolest Halloween bash ever!  We almost thought we might not make it this year since Avery has been vomiting the past two days. But she went back to school today and was feeling well, so we picked her up from the bus stop and headed to Mars, Inc. for Boo Bash 2014.

Here is a sneak peak at their Halloween costumes...
(We were quite surprised at Avery's choice this year!)
Spidey was a little sad that we had to wait in line...
and then a few minutes later, we saw Avery take his hand to cheer him up.
They had a blast at all of the different themed areas. There were lots of activities, prizes, and of course, more candy than you could imagine!
There are just random tables and boxes full of candy everywhere!
(even full sized chocolate bars!)
Here they are having a movie and popcorn break.
They even found the full sized versions of themselves...

 And even Santa!
Grayson eating "edible slime" (aka Green jello) from the Ninja Turtle themed area...
Avery decorating a Christmas cookie after seeing Santa..
Their earnings for the day!
We really don't need to go trick-or-treating tomorrow. Our house is overflowing with candy at this point!

Pumpkin carving

Last weekend, we carved the pumpkins that we picked at the pumpkin patch. By "we," I really mean "Daddy." The kids helped a little bit with the scooping out of the insides.

Grayson picking out the first seed!
Avery was ready to dig in and get messy this year
(not like in past years when she refused to put her hands in!)

Working hard, standing side by side. On chairs.

Daddy doing all the hard parts. While drinking beer. And watching the football game.
Grayson picked Superman....
Avery picked Olaf!
Nice job, Daddy!

We're hoping they stay fresh until Friday night!

Pumpkin Patch

Today was the perfect day for the pumpkin patch! Since we were in the midst of moving last year at this time (*yesterday was our 1 year anniversary in our new house*), we skipped the pumpkin patch. So, we definitely didn't want to miss out on it again!

They loved the hayride to the field and insisted on holding gripping each others hands tightly!

On the hunt for the "perfect" pumpkins...

 and they were found!
We made sure that Avery wore old sneakers this time. Two years ago, she threw a fit in the pumpkin patch because she didn't want to get her shoes dirty and refused to pick a pumpkin. She also then refused to carve it at home because she didn't want to get her hands messy.

 Enjoying the hay maze...
Avery insisted on me taking a picture of her "creepy face!" What do you think?

It seems like every year there is more and more to do there, so we limited it to one ride.
Grayson got to pick the ride (airplanes).
Avery got to pick the color (pink, of course!)
It was the perfect fall day!
Not yet sure how we will be carving the pumpkins, but I'll be sure to take pictures when we do!

Fall Festival at the Park

It seems that in the fall, there is just so much to do and so little time!  After a very rainy morning  last Saturday, the skies cleared up and we got to enjoy the Fall Festival at the park just down the street. We met up with Avery's BFF and enjoyed "train rides," bouncy houses, hay rides, pumpkin picking/decorating, chili tasting, a haunted house, and pony rides!
I just love these girls! Even though they don't go to the same school anymore, we make it a point to continue to get together (it helps that we really like hanging out with her parents!)
I hope that they remains friends forever!
And it's so nice that the girls let this little boy tag along!

Happy Fall to all! Hope you are enjoying it as much as we are!

And that's it! I'm officially caught up on the blog!

Impromptu day of fishing!

A few weeks ago, on a gorgeous Saturday morning, Mommy drove the kids to NJ to see their cousin Ben play in his soccer game (while Uncle Todd coached). Those little tots were so cute running around the field kicking a soccer ball! And Ben did great!

Since it was so nice out, we stuck around and went to the park, had a little cookout and even went fishing!
Believe it or not, Mommy caught the first fish of the day!
Little Giuliana walked up to Avery holding a worm in her hand...
and the next thing I knew, Avery (the girl who is scared of bugs!) was holding a worm too! Thanks G for showing Avery how to be brave!
 This is the life!
 I just love these kids!
It was such a great, unexpected day!

Grayson's First Day of Preschool

Grayson finally had his first day of Preschool a few weeks after Avery started school. He goes twice a week and has the same wonderful teachers that Avery had two years ago! Now, Mommy has two hours to herself on Friday mornings while both kids are in school and it is pretty amazing!

It's hard to get this boy to give me a nice, normal smile...but I've come to love his silliness and it shows in these pictures!

 Showing his muscles...
He is doing great in school so far! Much better than I thought he would! I warned his teachers that he has a very different personality than Avery, but they insist he is nothing but sweet and well-behaved! At least, I'm glad he is a good boy there and saves his naughtiness for when he gets home!
